Brief

This is a 11500 sq foot home, a new build and I was brought in to Pm and completed the interior and exterior design.  This covered a total rework of the power sources; it had a gas boiler and the estimates were at C£8K PCM to heat etc.  I designed Air Source pumps, Ground source heating, Solar Thermal and Solar PV along with battery backup storage.  There were also mains sewers and a holding tank to be built and pumped every six to eight weeks, so I designed a biodigester which meant working with the Environment Agency.  The house will be very nearly passive.   

I have also designed the exterior materials and we are in the process of working on the gardens and interiors. 

Hurdles

Planning for many items is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, so many considerations were taken into account.  Making the home passive rather than relying on fossil fuels.  One wall is all glass sliding doors, three floors of them, heat gain will be huge so looking at ways of negating this without the use of AC all the time.
